Situation in Pittsburgh all too common
In October of last year, The Onion reported a fascinating story that unfortunately didn't receive the full media attention it deserved. Apparently the Zombie Preparedness Institute performed a study in Pittsburgh revealing that a complete zombie takeover would happen in a maximum of 10 days!
This should not come as a surprise to those of us who research this problem. It only underscores the fact that PERSONAL PREPAREDNESS should be the primary objective for average civilians since the only way to prevent nightmarish scenarios like this one from obtaining is for city, state, and world governments to recognize and deal with the problem - something they've been entirely unwilling to do.
Poor evacuation routes and an ignorant citizenry are listed as the primary factors leading to the takeover. In the absense of governmental agencies willing to fix the evacuation route problem, the only chance we have for even a partial cure is to combat ignorance of the zombie problem. Knowledge is power - if we understand the threat zombies pose we will have a far higher possibility of understanding how to overcome that threat.

Well ten days is a little rough to put it. Now if everyone around the area of the attack used certain tactics in this "almost" class 3 attack then it would maybe take 20 days before a complete over run would occur. There are numerous assault strategies to deplete the attack.
Numerous hit-and-run strategies would suffice very well for the first 63 hours. Skilled shooters (such as swat snipers or experienced navy seal shooters) are perfect for this situation.
Pittsburgh is enormous so physical hit-and-runs are good to. Now simply running through the street with a chainsaw would kill any idiot. but riding through the street doucing in gasoline and then setting the attackers on fire is brilliant.
It simply takes courage and idiodacy to think correctly in this situation. there are many other situations that could occur but that's why one should be prepared ahead of time. In the case of an all out class 3 attack where there are no survivors it is always smart to flee in any way to a secluded area that has been ready for this horrible situation. The rest of it is all about survival.

In Germany we have the same problem with awareness. I try to prepare people for the Z-day. Topics like architecture and unarmed selfdefence are important. Maybe we should found an international organisation for Zombie Awareness.
